BARD 7 Schedule

BARD 7 will take place at Tulane University in New Orleans during the afternoon of April 17, 2026, with a pre-talk taking place over Zoom the previous Friday. See the (tentative) schedule below. The talk location is Richardson Memorial Hall room 204 (the Powell Classroom); all times are US Central Time. Talks will also be streamed on Zoom.

3:00pm–4:30pm, Tuesday, April 14: Pre-talk by Olivia Beckwith and Tung Hoang (on Zoom)

12:00pm–12:45pm, Friday, April 17: Registration and light lunch (Richardson Memorial 204)

12:45pm–1:45pm: Plenary lecture by Jeremy Rouse (Richardson Memorial 204; Zoom link)

Galois representations attached to elliptic curves

This talk will be a survey about Galois representations attached to elliptic curves and their connections to other problems in number theory. We will discuss prime values of quadratic polynomials, images of the mod n Galois representations and division fields, the inverse Galois problem for {\rm PSL}_{2}(\mathbb{F}_{p}) , and the determination of coprime solutions to x^2+y^3=z^7 .

1:45pm–2:00pm: Break

2:00pm–3:00pm: Plenary lecture by Asimina Hamakiotes (Richardson Memorial 204; Zoom link)

Abelian extensions arising from elliptic curves with complex multiplication

This talk will focus on the division field of an elliptic curve. We will discuss elliptic curves with complex multiplication (CM) and the class field theory that arises when studying the division field of an elliptic curve, as well as Galois representations and how they play a role in studying the division field of an elliptic curve. Lastly, we will show some results relating to the division field of an elliptic curve with CM.

3:00pm–3:30pm: Coffee and snacks (Richardson Memorial 204)

3:30pm–5:00pm: Lightning talks (Richardson Memorial 204; Zoom link)

6:00pm: Dinner at The Rum House, 3128 Magazine St.
